SKULL MAGAZINE

Skull Magazine began with our BFA professor handing each of us a different page from the dictionary. The instructions: choose any word off the page and create a magazine. This includes a brand identity, target audience, and a print and digital edition of said magazine.

At first a travel magazine with the title “skyline” interested me, but I didn’t think the world needed any more of those. I wanted a tighter focus for the topic and a style of design that would push me out of my comfort zone. Then “skull” caught my attention. I’ve always loved the art of tattooing but had never enjoyed the over sexualized focus of the current tattoo magazines. Skull Magazine is a tattoo art and culture publication. It highlights the art form, shares the stories of tattoo artists, and the history of tattoos. I welcome you to read through the final edition below.
